What to wear

Indian weddings are wonderfully dressy affairs. Here's everything you need to know.

Ceremonies & Mehendi
Indian Festive Attire
Saree, lehenga, salwar kameez, or sherwani. Rich colours — deep reds, greens, blues, gold.
Not sure where to start? A bright kurta or anarkali always looks beautiful and is easy to find in any Indian store.
Receptions
Cocktail or Indian Formal
A Western cocktail dress or suit works perfectly. Or stay in Indian attire — you truly cannot overdress at an Indian wedding reception.
Pro tip: Venues often have beautiful gardens or courtyards. Block heels or flats are your best friend.
Haldi (if attending)
Something You Love a Little Less
Haldi means turmeric — it goes absolutely everywhere. Wear something bright and festive. Yellows and oranges are perfect.
The good news: It's one of the most joyful, photogenic events of any Indian wedding. You'll love it.
